Laurie Glogower on the passing of her mother, Patricia Carlson. The funeral will take place on Sunday, October 17, at 2:00pm at Garden of Remembrance in Clarksburg, MD. Shiva will be observed at the Glogower home, 11704 Stonington Place, through Friday afternoon. The family requests no visitors between 11:30am and 1:30pm, between 4:30pm and 6:00pm or after 9:00pm. "Into the Arms of Strangers, a feature length documentary about the Kindertransport will be presented at 8:00 pm Sunday, Nov. 7 in the YISE Social Hall. This program, presented as an adjunct to Yom HaShoah program last April, is sponsored by the YISE/KMS Holocaust Committee."

Rosh Hashana Chesed Pledges – Over 100 individuals made pledges as a result of the Rosh Hashana Chesed Appeal requesting support for six community activities: hospitality, Bikur Cholim, Chevra Kadisha, shiva minyanim, the University Boulevard mincha/maariv minyan, and the Kemp Mill JobAssist effort. YISE YOUTH ANOUNCEMENTS

The Youth Minyan will start at 9:15am in the small side of the Social Hall.

Youth Groups will meet this Shabbos at 10am. 1st – 4th grade girls meet upstairs in the small Beis Medrash; 1st – 4th grade boys at the Yeshiva (meet in the YISE downstairs lobby at 10am to walk across); 2-5yr olds meet in the large Youth room behind the women`s balcony. Pick up the 2-5 year olds in the large Youth room and the 1st-4th graders in the small Youth room.

Rabbi Rosenbaum`s Shiur for 6th-8th grade boys meets this Shabbos 1 hour before Mincha.

The Monthly Melava Malka Tanach series returns Motzei Shabbas Oct. 23, at 8:30pm. It will include a shiur by Rabbi Rosenbaum on the Torah personality of Rivkah. The program will take place at the Simkovich home (Warwick Apartments, #1010).This popular shiur is now in its 4th year and is open to the entire community.

The Greater Washington Community Kollel in conjunction with YISE Adult Education Committee presents Linas Hatzedek, a program dedicated to elucidating the laws of interpersonal conduct. This Sunday Rabbi Dovid Rosenbaum will introduce the new topic of "Ona`as Devarim" – The Prohibition of Causing Emotional Distress. Sunday mornings at YISE. Shacharis at 8:45am, chavrusah style learning with a Kollel Rabbi from 9:30 – 10:15am.

The Mesorah Women`s Learning Institute brings in the Rachel Imeinu Yahrzeit Video (worldwide event) featuring inspiring shiurim by Rebbitzen Tziporah Heller and Rebbitzen Tehila Jaegar (for women only).
