Yom Kippur Yizkor Appeal 5778
Dear YISE members,
This year we are attempting to focus our services on meaningful tefilah with fewer distractions. To that end, we are going to eliminate the "real time" calling out of pledges at the Yom Kippur Yizkor appeals in the Belonofsky Sanctuary and the Social Hall. We will continue to have cards for people to turn in on Yom Kippur to make pledges. Anyone who would like a pledge announced in honor of, or in memory of, a particular person or people, is encouraged to contact us in advance with that information. We will compile a list of those pledges for each minyan (Belonofsky Sanctuary and Social Hall) and read them aloud before Yizkor. If anyone would like to make a pledge in advance rather than turning in a card, but not have the pledge announced, they are welcome to do so as well. We hope that this will keep the disruption of the service to a minimum, as well as eliminate the errors and confusion that often come when announcing pledges in real time. In order to allow the office and the Gabbaim to prepare the list, paper pledges must be submitted to the YISE office by 5pm on Thursday, September 28. Pledges received after these times will not be announced on Yom Kippur.
Wishing you a happy and healthy 5778,
Chair, Ritual Committee
